IN THE BEGINNING...
Welcome to the Taste of Black St. Louis a multi-sensory food experience that was created to bring local communities and visitors together for a full weekend of culture, tasting, and shopping. While simultaneously bringing awareness to our city’s black culinary talents by shining a bright light on black owned businesses within the region.
Since established in 2018, Taste of Black STL has attracted over 83,000 attendees, showcased over 200 foods, retail, and informational vendors, and harvesting thousands of dollars in gross sales for its vendors & sponsors. Our festival mission to provide opportunities through accessibility, affordability, and sustainability by keeping our marketplaces affordable. Allowing for micro-businesses to re-invest in themselves and support their families. The Taste of Black STL offers small businesses the perfect portal right into the hearts and tummies of audiences year after year.
In September 2021 the Taste of Black STL humbly accepted a Proclamation from Madam Tishaura Jones, Saint Louis City 1st female, Black Mayor, naming the 2nd week in September as "Taste of Black STL weekend." As well as a Resolution and pausing on the floor from the Missouri House of Representatives & State Representative Marlon Anderson, a Democrat, of St. Louis City District 76, recognizing the Taste of Black STL as a staple in the community.
The Taste of Black STL looks forward to returning this September 8th - 10th, 2023!
